Tickets & Seating

Commencement is on May 10 and begins at 10:45 a.m. All guests must be in their seats by 10:30 a.m. The ceremony generally lasts about 2 hours. The ceremony is held on the Campus Quadrangle in favorable weather and in the Bernard T. Lomas Fieldhouse at the Dow Center in inclement weather. The decision as to whether the ceremony will be held indoors or outdoors is made at 6:30 on the morning of commencement. You may check this website (URL) to see whether commencement will be indoors or outdoors or you may call Campus Safety at 517/629-1234.

Kristyn Sweeney, Kathleen Sutton, and Anna Stroud are all smiles after receiving their diplomas. You will need commencement tickets if the ceremony is held indoors (in the Bernard T. Lomas Fieldhouse at the Dow Center) for any family members or friends who will be attending Commencement. Each student will receive tickets via their campus mailbox. Included with their tickets will be a mailing envelope so that they may send the tickets home if they choose. Any guests who do not have tickets will be seated in auxiliary seating (in the Ungrodt Tennis Center), where the ceremony will be projected on large screens.

Why do we have to have tickets if commencement is held inside? Per fire code regulations, we can only have a certain number of people in the Fieldhouse at the Dow, so tickets are necessary.

Seating outdoors is unlimited.

* We do not have replacement tickets for lost tickets.*

Please call the Office of Campus Safety at 517/629-1234 to make arrangements for any guests needing barrier-free entrances or with other special needs.
