Current Research:

• Light as a means of initiating polymerization reactions to form conducting polymers.
• The absorption of energy (in the form of light) by molecules and how that energy is dissipated
• The use of quantum mechanical calculations to understand how light can cause small molecule to react to form generally unstable species.

In addition, we are building a specialized spectrometer so that these studies of light interacting with molecules can be studied in greater detail.  Some pictures of the beginning of that process (circa 1997) can be found here.
