When: September 4, 2007 (Tuesday)
Practices:  September 5: 5-6pm

                September 6: 7-9:30pm

                                                          

 

Requirements:

Females

  • Learn and perform 1 cheer and 2 sidelines
  • Learn and perform 3 eight-counts of dance

·         Learn and perform school fight song

·         Tumbling, optional (but encouraged!  If you have some, show it off! It will add to your score!)
      - standing back handspring
      - standing tuck
      - series tumbling

       •  Stunting:

- Bases:  Elevator with pop cradle

                                 Shoulder stand

                                 One other stunt

- Tops: Elevator with pop/full down cradle

                               Shoulder stand

                               One other stunt
                   - Back spots: Elevator with pop cradle
                                        Post up shoulder stand
                                        One other stunt

 

         Flexibility: heel-stretch or splits

 

      •  Jumps: toe-touch and an optional jump

   

Males

    Work with existing team members to learn stunting and motions. 
     As of right now there is not a full try out for males. 

 

Other Information:

      •  All material will be taught and practiced on each day.  At the end of
         each session, all material learned will be reviewed and participants will
         be evaluated by the coach. 

 

What to Bring:

      •  Water bottle.  Water will be provided, bottles will not.

      •  Cheerleading resume with recent picture

      •  Insurance form (can be found on Albion Athletics Website)

      •  Release form (contact coach for more information)

      •  Completed Physical Form (can be found on Albion Athletics Website)

      •  Shorts and a t-shirt that can be tucked in.  Albion College colors are
         purple and gold and are strongly encouraged. Please wear clean
         cheerleading shoes or sneakers and pull your hair out of your face (pony
         tail or half up). 

      •  Willingness to learn and a positive attitude!


 

 IF YOU MAKE THE TEAM...

 

Time (and financial) Commitments: Summer and Fall

 •  UCA Camp (2-3 days, on-campus)

 •  All home football games (Saturdays)

 •  All home volleyball games (Weeknights)

 •  3 practices per week for 2 hours

 •  Optional away football games and post season games

 •  Homecoming Bonfire (Friday night before Homecoming football game)

 •  Parent’s Day performance and dinner (After the football game on Parent's Day)

 •  1-2 men’s or women’s basketball games
 

Time Commitment: Spring Semester

      •  2-5 practices per week (Competition Season)

      •  All home men’s and women’s basketball games (Weeknights and/or
         Saturday afternoons)

      •  Optional travel to post season games
