Office of Career Development Staff

The Office of Career Development provides comprehensive services designed to assist students and alumni in the career exploration and decision-making process. We strive to teach students the skills necessary to be successful with their career pursuits.


Dr. Mary O. Jones

Emphases: Business, Communications, Fine/Performing Arts, History, International Studies, and Law.

Mary completed Ph.D. in Higher Education with a dissertation focused on Career Development at liberal arts colleges. She completed her Master’s degree in Education from Columbia University. As an undergraduate, she attended Goucher College in Maryland which sparked her interest in Academic Affairs and her desire to further her education beyond the undergraduate level to better serve her students. As an undergraduate, she studied abroad at La Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA) in Argentina. Mary continued her education and worked in a variety of higher education leadership positions at Barnard College, Columbia University, and Columbia Law School. Mary worked at the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan where she counseled MBA and BBA students on all aspects of their internship/job searches, including self-assessments, resume reviews, mock interviews, and general career counseling. Mary is certified in Career Leader Business Counseling and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). She also managed international programs in Europe and Latin America. In 2009, Mary published and presented a research paper in Madrid for the International Conference for Education, Research, and Innovation (ICERI). Mary is excited about the planning and implementation of the Albion Advantage and strategic planning initiatives. Mary was recently elected President & Chairman for the Job Pursuit Consortium for the 2011-2012 academic year. On a personal note, Mary enjoys international travel, figure skating, and ballet.


Ms. Amanda Cope

Amanda (Mandy) Cope graduated with her Master of Arts in Counseling program from Spring Arbor University.  She completed  her 700+ hour practicum and internship at Albion College Counseling Services and in Career Development.  A longtime resident of Calhoun County, Amanda has made a life out of working to help individuals become their best, true self.  She has volunteered as a mentor for youth in foster care, with children of domestic violence, as a sexual assault victim advocate, homeless advocate, and an outspoken ally for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) community. 

Mandy has held professional positions working with unemployed, under-employed, and homeless individuals and families to increase important life skills including self-esteem building, healthy relationships, self-management, and employability skills.  She has extensive experience with workforce development and career counseling and is a Global Career Development Facilitator recognized by the National Career Development Associations.

Prior to graduate school, Mandy earned her Bachelor of Arts in Family Life Education from Spring Arbor University.  While there she had the opportunity to intern at Starr Commonwealth with the Treatment Foster Care Team and develop training curriculum to meet Michigan Foster Parent licensing requirement.

Mandy is in the process of receiving accreditation as a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC) in the State of Michigan.  She holds professional memberships with the National Career Development Association (NCDA), American Counseling Association (ACA), Association for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Issues in Counseling (ALGBTIC), Michigan Association for Marriage and Family Counseling (MAMFC), Michigan Association for Humanistic Education and Development (MAHEAD), Michigan Career Development Association (MCDA), Michigan Counseling Association (MCA). 

Mandy enjoys spending time with friends and family whether on the lake, having a BBQ and bon fire, or competing during a game night.  She is looking forward continuing to serve the students of Albion College on the road to his or her success.


Ms. Amber Lewis

Administrative Secretary for Career Development

Amber attended Brigham Young University and brings years of experience from working in the fields of business and human resources to her job here at Albion College. She is happy to be a part of the Career Development Office and Albion College. A native of Michigan, Amber is very active in the Jackson area and the surrounding communities through her involvement with local businesses, charities, and has served as an active board member on for several local non profit organizations. Amber and her husband are the parents of four active children and spend a great deal of time involved in school organizations and community athletics. She also enjoys anything to do with music and early European and American history.


Ms. Rebecca Satawa

Office Assistant / Social Media Intern

Emphases: Anthropology, Communication, and Media/Radio.

Rebecca is a senior at Albion College. She is a double major in Communications with emphases in Mass Media and Anthropology. Rebecca interned this past summer with three radio stations just outside of Detroit (Magic 105.1, 101 WRIF, and 94.7 WCSX). For the past three summers Rebecca has worked in Dogcare for the nonprofit organization Leader Dogs for the Blind. There, she not only helped take care of dogs but also helped the visually impaired find a dog to help lead them in their everyday lives. She's a member of Kappa Delta and House Manager at Dean Hall. On top of all of her classwork she also finds time to host a radio show for WLBN. She hopes to someday work in public relations, preferably in radio or television.
