Mary received her Ph.D. in Higher Education with a dissertation titled "A Study of the Best Practices of Liberal Arts Career Centers at Selected Institutions.” Previously, Mary completed her Master’s degree in Education from Columbia University in 2002 from the Teachers College, which is one of the top Education programs in the country. As an undergraduate, she attended Goucher College in Maryland which sparked her interest in student affairs and her desire to further her education beyond the undergraduate level to better serve her students and to gain a deeper understanding of the field of student affairs and academic/ career advising. While working on her graduate degrees, she continued her education and worked in a variety of student affairs positions at Barnard College, Teachers College, and Columbia Law School. Most recently, Mary worked at the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan where she counseled students on all aspects of their job searches, including self-assessments, resume reviews, mock interviews, and general career counseling. She also advised students on study abroad and international internship opportunities. Mary enjoys career coaching and she is excited about coaching Albion students on all aspects of their job searches and graduate school pursuits and to use her extensive and varied experience to maximize the career potential of students at Albion. Mary has had a wide variety of experiences with liberal arts colleges and has benefited from the diverse and exciting opportunities that this education brings and is excited to help contribute to the experience of students at Albion. On a personal level, Mary is highly experienced and passionate about theatre and dance and enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
