PARKING ON CAMPUS Parking questions or comments? Email parking@albion.edu. Due to the limited number of spaces, all motor vehicles parking in campus lots must be registered with the Department of Campus Safety. This applies both to students and to their visitors. It is the responsibility of the students to see that their visitors abide by all parking regulations. Visitor parking permits are issued free of charge, up to 10 days each semester, and can be obtained from the Campus Safety Office 24 hours a day. After 10 days of visitor permits there is a $1 per day charge that is charged to the students account at the end of each semester. Students may be held responsible for any parking violations by their visitors. Students may use up to 10 days of temporary permits for their own parking needs before registering for a student permit. After the 10 days, a vehicle is not considered temporary and must register for a student permit if they wish to keep their vehicle on campus longer. Because of the limited availability of parking spaces, first-year students must submit in writing, a petition to the director of campus safety for a parking space. A link to the petition form can be found under the Parking Permit Registration section. Submission of the petition does not guarantee a parking spot. The request must be approved before a motor vehicle is brought to Albion College. For academic year 2007-2008, permit fees will be as follows: On Campus- First-Year, Sophomores, Junior: $300/year Seniors: $100/year South of the railroad tracks around the Dow Center- First-Year, Sophomores, Juniors: $280 Seniors: $80/year Clark St Lot (see below for more info) First-Year, Sophomores, Juniors: $225/year Seniors: $80/year Clark Street Lot Information: Due to the limited parking space on campus, and the demand for more room, there is now a parking lot located off campus on Clark Street. It is approximately 1 mile northeast of campus. Campus Safety will provide transportation to and from this lot 24 hours a day. Students must call Campus Safety (629-1234) if they need a ride. There is a security gate that is closed at all times; students who are assigned to the lot will have their keycards encoded to open the gate. There is also a security camera and a phone to dial directly to Campus Safety. This parking lot is offered at a discounted yearly rate. Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors will register in the spring for the upcoming school year, and will pick up their parking permit at Campus Safety when they arrive on campus for the fall semester. First-Year students will be given registration information at SOAR, and permits will be handed out on move-in day at Seaton Hall and Wesley Hall. All students will need to show their vehicle registration when picking up their permit It is important that all vehicles brought to Albion be parked in a campus lot and registered with the Department of Campus Safety as there is an Albion ordinance prohibiting parking on city streets between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. daily. Vehicles that are not registered or are in violation of College parking regulations may be ticketed and towed away at the owner's risk and expense. Parking Regulations 1.
