Sports Clubs & Recreational Groups
Canoe Club
Canoe Club was created in 1997
The club takes two trips every year. The fall trip to North Carolina is to compete in a triathlon consisting
of a 5 kilometer run, a mile swim, and a 10 mile canoe. The spring trip usually consists of a white water rafting trip. The club also volunteers cleans up the banks of the Kalamazoo River
throughout the city of Albion. The
club is open to anyone with an interest. No
skill level required.
Albion College Cheerleaders
Albion College Cheer Team (ACC) is a club sport organization open to
both men and women. The mission of ACC is to promote
school spirit, The squad performs at varsity
football, volleyball, and men's and we encourage good
sportsmanship, and support the varsity athletic teams throughout the Albion
College campus community.
Climbing Club
The purpose of the Climbing Club is to provide members with the experience
of recreational climbing. The club will give students a positive activity
that teaches discipline, responsibility, teamwork, and the power of
self-confidence.
Croquet League
Founded in 2005, the purpose of the Albion Croquet League is to promote the
appreciation of the sport of croquet through practice and competition. The
head of the Croquet League, the Grand Duke or Grand Duchess, strives for the
success of the league and its members must uphold the ideals of the League:
loyalty, respect, truth, and above all else honor.
Equestrian
Club
The Albion College Equestrian Club is an organization open to all members of
the campus community who have an interest in horses. Membership is not limited to only those who own horses or even to
those who ride. Beginning
in the fall of 2003, the club will have two facets: a club team that
competes with the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association and a
recreational club for those members who do not wish to compete.
Frisbee and Disc Club
The Frisbee and Disc Club is a recreational club providing the college community
with opportunities to play, compete in, and learn Frisbee and other disc sports.
Competitions may include Ultimate Frisbee games or disc golf matches.
Admission is open to anyone interested in disc sports and the club welcomes new
members.
Hockey Club
Hockey Club is a group that provides students at Albion
College who wish to participate in the sport of ice hockey
with the opportunity to play amongst other participants who
are so inclined. The club plays local clubs and other colleges
and universities.
Intramural,
Recreational, and Club Sports
A full slate of intramural, club, and recreational athletics is
available at Albion—everything from basketball to dodgeball, and from
canoeing to Ultimate Frisbee
Lacrosse Club (men's)
Lacrosse Club is a non-varsity athletic team. Members
possess varying levels of experience and those who have
never picked up a stick are welcome to join. Because the
team is not varsity, some equipment and fees must be
provided by the individual members. The regular season
occurs in the spring when Albion matches up with Western
Michigan University, Calvin College, Hope College, and other
club teams.
Midnight Runners Club
Midnight Runners is a club dedicated to those students who enjoy
running noncompetitively and like to run as a group. We run on Mondays and
Thursdays, generally starting at the
Kellogg Center at 10:30. Come join us for some fun, relaxation, and exercise.
Ski & Snowboard Club
The objective of this organization is to provide opportunities for members
to participate in skiing and snowboarding activities at a rate affordable for
college students.
Volleyball Club
Men's Volleyball Club has participated in the Midwest
Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Tournament for the last
four years. This tournament brings in club teams from Top 10
schools throughout the Midwest, in which Albion's Men's
Club have held their own.
Water Polo Club
The purpose of the Albion Water Polo Club is to promote competition and athletic
activity through a co-ed water polo club. The club aims to teach members
the sport as well as train one or more teams for competition through tournaments
and games.
Women's Lacrosse Club
Women's Lacrosse plays an active
role in Albion's club sport
recreation. It is a member of the
Midwest Women's Collegiate Lacrosse League
and also provides college women the
opportunity to compete with one another on
the field.
