Clubs and Organizations
Accounting Society
The Accounting
Society meets regularly to help students prepare for a career in accounting, as
well as to identify and discuss topical issues in the field. The Accounting
Society also holds an annual Spring Banquet, inviting representatives from all
known accounting firms in Michigan. The goal is to allow the students to begin
networking for possible internships and/or job opportunities.
Art Club
The Art Club is an organization devoted to exploring the many possibilities of the
visual arts. Regular events are held for participants to create art as
well as attend lectures by various artists invited to Albion for the purpose of
enriching our college community. Each semester Art Club takes off-campus
trips to art galleries, museums, and other related events.
Astronomy Club
The Astronomy
Club provides students interested in
astronomy with a wide variety of fun and
educational activities such as star
parties, dome events (using the telescope
in the Observatory), movie nights, trips
to other observatories and to
planetariums, and guest speakers. No
background or education in astronomy is
necessary for membership and all are
welcome to join!
Chemistry Club
Chemistry Club is established to further enhance the education of
chemistry by presenting information about new developments and current issues in
chemistry and to inform students about careers available to students with
Chemistry degrees.
Delta Sigma Pi
Delta Sigma Pi is a professional
fraternity organized to foster the study of business in universities; to
encourage scholarship, social activity and the association of students for their
mutual advancement by research and practice; to promote closer affiliation
between the commercial world and students of commerce, and to further a higher
standard of commercial ethics and culture and the civic and commercial welfare
of the community.
English Club
English Club members are
interested in the study of English, although it is not necessarily their major.
Throughout the year, the club coordinates fundraisers, trips to poetry slams and
other literary events, programs at the Albion Public Library for children, open
mic nights, brings in lecturers and visiting poets and writers, and assists the
English professors in curriculum and their own endeavors.
Geology Club
Geology Club's purpose is to unite students interested in geology. Club
activities include sponsoring field trips, visiting local elementary schools for
educational outreach, hosting speakers, and hosting social events for club
members.
Investment Club
The Investment Club is devoted to learning
about stock selection methods while having
a little fun. They are members of
the National Association of Investors
Corporation (NAIC). Using NAIC stock
selection method, the club buys and sells
real stocks. All profits are
"rolled over" to establish a
scholarship fund for Economics and
Management majors. Besides meetings,
the club takes three trips to NAIC
seminars and presentations.
Model United Nations
Model
UN at Albion College is open to all students. Model UN studies important issues
in international affairs and applies them during several simulations with other
colleges and universities. In
recent years, Model UN has gone to Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, Philadelphia and Athens.
Pre-Dental Club
The purpose of the Pre-Dental Club is to provide programs that educate
members about the field of dentistry and to allow members to network
with each other regarding the dental school application process.
Pre-Law Society
Pre-Law Society was started in an effort to create an accessible network of resources for Albion students
interested in attending law school. Some of the specific goals
of the Pre-Law Society are bringing
law school representatives to Albion College, enhancing the
publicity, organization, and student participation in these
visits, improving the availability of LSAT preparation resources
on campus, and helping students with the law school application
process.
Pre-Vet Club
The purpose of the Albion College Pre-Veterinary Club is to provide programs
that educate members about the field of veterinary medicine and to allow members
to network with each other regarding the school of veterinary medicine
application process.
