New Students Registered
for SOAR 5
First-year
and transfer students registered for SOAR 5 will arrive on campus Thursday,
August
21, 2008.
Please begin the day by picking up your SOAR materials between 8:00 a.m. and
9:15 a.m. at the Kellogg Center. You may then proceed to your assigned
residence hall to check in and obtain keys for your residence hall room.
Parking for First-Year students for unloading purposes will be available
behind Wesley Hall (enter at the Bidwell Street parking
lot) or adjacent Seaton Hall lots. Transfer students also have parking options
available near their assigned living units.
Keep in mind this is move-in day for SOAR 5
participants. Please bring all of your personal items that you will need for
the school year as you will be moving into your assigned room for the fall
semester. The first SOAR program begins promptly at 9:30 a.m., so please
allow ample time to arrive and unpack your car. While this time frame
will most likely not allow you to unpack everything in your room, additional time is
built into the weekend schedule for students to settle and personalize their rooms. All
SOAR 5 students are required to stay for
First-Year Information programs
that run beginning Friday afternoon through Sunday (August
22-24).
All Other New Students
First-year and transfer students who attended SOAR
sessions 1-4 in late May/Early June are expected to arrive on campus
Friday, August 22 in time for the First-Year Information (FYI) activities which begin at
3:30 p.m. that afternoon. You may check in beginning at 8:00 a.m. and
anytime thereafter throughout the morning and until 3:00 pm.
Students residing in Wesley or Seaton Hall should go directly to your
respective hall to check-in and obtain keys. Parking for unloading will be
available behind Wesley Hall (enter at the Bidwell Street parking lot) or
adjacent lots at Seaton Hall. All other students should follow the instructions
regarding check-in locations, listed under "Returning Students."
Important sessions for all new students will begin
on Friday, August 22, with floor meetings at 3:30p.m. See the
FYI
schedule of events on page 18 of this newsletter. Attendance is required at
most FYI activities.
