Day One: Arrival

Mother?s Day messages from the Poland Trip Crew?.

Welcome to the Poland Trip Blog!

We landed safe and sound in Poland on Mother?s Day. While the Albion crew sat in the airports in Detroit and Frankfurt en route to Poland, some of us typed email wishes to the mothers in our lives.

To Laura Clements, Eastpointe, Michigan
Hi Mom!
Thank you for all you?ve done for me for me in the last two decades and everything that you did to help me prepare for this trip! There is no way that I could ever repay you for everything. I hope you enjoy this day, it?s yours to relax and don?t forget to make Dad do everything for you 
Love,
Nic

To Debbie Carvill, Grand Blanc, Michigan
Hey Mom!
Happy Mother?s Day! Thank you so much for everything! I could never have experienced everything that I have in the past 21 years without your (and Dad?s) support.  Try to relax and enjoy the day (even though you?re nervous about me flying!). Have a great one and I?ll see you next Sunday! I love you!
Love,
EC

To Cheryl Jordan, Flint, Michigan
Happy Mother?s Day, Mom! It was very, very special having you in Albion this weekend. Thank you so much. I really wish we could have spent more time at a less pressured pace. (But we?re still on for dinner when I get back, right?) Have a very happy day, and I?ll see you on the other side of Poland.
Much love,
Tu hija (Laura :)

To Pam Elliott, Pittsford, Michigan
Happy Mother?s Day, Mom!
Wish I could be there to give you a hug! Thanks for everything, know that I will be thinking about you!
Love,
Linds

Sorry I couldn?t be there today mom. I hope you are feeling well. I hope you have a great day and continue
to get better.

Andy

Hey mom-Hope you got the flowers. Poland will be fun and I?m sorry I won?t be there for mother?s day. Have a great day.
Love, Joel

To Jean Fornetti, Kingsford, Michigan
Hey Mom! Happy Mother?s Day from??the airport in Germany!  Hope you have a great day! I love you!
Love, Jaime

To Carol Dumsch, Alpena, Michigan
Happy Mother?s Day, Mother! We?re at the airport in Frankfurt right now, waiting for our next flight. I hope you read this in case I don?t get to call? Have a good day and I?ll talk to you soon. Love you.
Love,
Danica

To Sarah Cocks, Albion, Michigan
Dear Sarah,
I trust Emily has treated you to a happy Mother?s Day. I send my love to you and to Emily and Andy as well. How do the rugs look? And how is our new table? We are in Frankfurt waiting for our connection to Katowice. I got four hours of sleep on the plane, in spite of a ?spirited? baby.
Love,
Geoff

To Daniel, David, and Jonathan Saltzman
I am in the Frankfurt airport, waiting for a plane to Poland. I bought an Asterix book (in English) that I believe you have never seen. I?ll bring it home when I return from Poland. Please remember to help your mom by cleaning dishes, doing your homework, etc. On Monday morning, you need to get the newspaper recycling out; you can take out the garbage and plastic metal recycling today. Hope David enjoyed his canoe trip and that Jonathan enjoyed his hockey and soccer games yesterday. Jonathan-I sent a post card home today from Frankfurt with two German stamps. One of my Albion students gave me several Vietnamese stamps yesterday when I went to the Albion graduation; I?ll bring them home when I return from Poland.
A German store clerk told me ?That is not allowed here.? They were selling large cases of cigarettes in a duty-free shop, and the cases had stern anti-smoking messages in very large letters. I wanted to photograph the warning labels. I ended up photographing them in a different store.

To Audrey Newell and Martha Saltzman, Ann Arbor, Michigan
Happy mother?s day!
Love, Greg

Hi Kiley Family!
We?re at the Frankfort Airport?and guess what?! ?I?ve found some new perfume that I?ll probably end up purchasing on the trip back (it?s Escada ?Rio something,? and I thought Mollie might like something like that). Mom, I hope you have a grrrreat mother?s day! Sorry that I cannot be there to celebrate with you, but at least we had Saturday together!  I hope you have a great week in Cadillac, and I also hope you have an excellent time in Detroit at Hairspray! I luv you very much, and I will see you on this\ coming Sunday! MUAH! - luv, your favorite daughter Kayla

To Joellen Arvoy, Flint, Michigan
Hola! Happy Mother?s Day! I will bring back some potato pancakes for you. Just kidding! Have fun at Emma?s dance recital and sorry the house is a ?little? messy. You are the best mother a feller could have!
Love,
Sonny.
