Bentley Foundation of Owosso, Michigan, established Operation Bentley in memory of, and to promote the ideals held by Alvin Bentley. During his life, Mr. Bentley served the United States proudly as a Foreign Service Officer from 1941-1950. He served four terms in the U.S. Congress for the 8th Congressional District. After his service in Washington, Congressman Bentley returned to Michigan and served as Chairman of the Education Committee at the Constitutional Convention in Lansing. Mr. Bentley also chaired the subcommittee of the Executive Branch Committee that created a Civil Rights Commission. Mr. Bentley and his wife Billie established the Foundation in order to promote public service with a special focus on education and state and local government. We invite you to explore more about Operation Bentley found in the following pages, or by contacting the Operation Bentley office at Albion College. |
