Information for Prospective Students

Welcome. The Learning Support Center at Albion College provides accommodations and services for students with disabilities. All Albion College students with disabilities are encouraged to register with the Center and submit documentation of their disability prior to arrival.

The Application Process

The decision of whether to disclose your disability during the application process is one that each student must decide. Albion College does not have a separate application process for students with disabilities. The admissions office reviews each application on its own merits. Students with disabilities need to meet the same standards as all other applicants.

However, because the application process is personalized, individual circumstances are taken into consideration. If you believe that your situation could be better understood by explaining the nature of your disability and how you have learned to deal with your challenges, it may prove useful to include a personal statement with your application.

If you choose to write a personal statement, include specifics on how you were able to succeed in High School and how your experiences have prepared you for college. Include information on whether you used accommodations or other resources. You may also want to include some ideas on the steps you plan to take to be successful in college.

The Learning Support Staff will be happy to provide information regarding the services available to our students. Please be aware that the LSC staff is not involved in any part application process or giving recommendations based on interviews.
