Dianne Guenin-LelleFrench FacultyI find it so fulfilling to be able to research the culture and importance of French Louisiana with my students. Especially after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, understanding more deeply the historical, cultural, and linguistic importance of South Louisiana relative to the United States and to the French-speaking world has become a kind of mission for me. For nearly 20 years I have been teaching and researching this part of our country, but now I feel more compelled than ever to understand this region, my home, because of how it was almost lost due to natural and then later political forces.
