Albion President Maintains Colleges Can Combine Career Preparation and Well Rounded Education
Albion College President Donna Randall authored an op-ed about how colleges can provide both the foundation for a lucrative career and a well rounded education for the Forbes Web site. The Albion Advantage, the College’s new program integrating the liberal arts and career readiness, launches this fall.Randall wrote, “Most of the rhetoric takes a defensive tone, an ‘Us vs. Them’ mentality. Purists paint any movement by colleges toward career preparation as an extreme shift that will dilute the sacrosanct liberal arts experience and turn colleges into trade schools. Meanwhile, critics are asking, why aren't more colleges equipping students with the professional skills necessary for lucrative careers?
