ACLU Michigan Director Discusses News Headlines

ACLU Michigan legal director Michael Steinberg clarifies some of the State's hot-button legal issues in a public address at Albion College Thursday, October 4, at 7 p.m. in the College's Bobbitt Visual Arts Center. Steinberg will touch on gay rights, immigrant rights, affirmative action and other issues involved in current legislation and legal disputes.

Steinberg has served as legal director for the American Civil Liberties Union of Michigan since 1997 and is responsible for overseeing all litigation taken on by the ACLU throughout the state. With the Michigan ACLE, he has been involved in issues including freedom of speech and expression post 9-11, religious freedom, racial justice, LGBT rights, police misconduct, women’s rights and voting rights. In 2007 he was selected by Harvard Law School as a public interest fellow and he is currently an adjunct professor at Wayne State University Law School.
