US Airways CEO Doug Parker, '84, to Deliver Commencement Address
US Airways CEO Doug Parker, a 1984 graduate of Albion College touches down in Albion to deliver the College's 2010 Commencement address on Saturday, May 8. The Commencement processional begins at 10:45 a.m. in the College's Quadrangle.
The former chair/CEO of America West Airlines, Parker assumed the helm at US Airways when the two airlines merged in 2005. US Airways Group, headquartered in Tempe, Ariz., is a $12 billion international company. Parker has spent nearly 25 years in the airline industry, holding finance, management and executive positions with Northwest and American Airlines as well. Parker holds an M.B.A. from Vanderbilt University.
Albion College’s Commencement is free and open to the public, except in the case of inclement weather. If Commencement is moved indoors to the Dow Recreation and Wellness Center, it will be a ticketed event. The final decision for the Commencement location will be made at 6 a.m. Saturday, May 8. After that time, the Albion College Office of Campus Safety will announce the location, and can be reached at 517/629-1234.
