Pianist Jen Sylak presents Senior Recital
On Friday, April 16 at 7:30 p.m. in Goodrich Chapel, Albion College senior Jennifer Sylak will perform her senior piano recital.
A Bluffton, Ohio native and K-12 music education major, Sylak performs a number of pieces including two Scarlatti sonatas; Liszt's Sposolizio from "Years of Pilgrimage," and parts of Schubert Sonata in A major and Bartok's "Two Romanian Dances."
Sylak is recording secretary for Sigma Alpha Iota, the women's music fraternity and the Albion College Symphony Orchestra. Sylak is also is a member of honorary societies Phi Beta Kappa and Omicron Delta Kappa.
Sylak credits Albion piano faculty Lia Jensen-Abbott and David Abbott as the most significant sources of guidance in her time at Albion. "They have taught me more in the past four years than I ever thought possible. They are passionate teachers, dedicated to their students and their profession," said Sylak. "When I leave after student teaching next fall, I will miss them like I will miss my best friends. They are just amazing!”
