Jazz Ensemble Finishes Year of Jazz at Relli's
On Saturday April 17, at 9 p.m. the Albion College Jazz Ensemble performs their last concert of the year at Cascarelli's restaurant in downtown Albion.
The band will play new tunes premiered at their April Jazz In Goodrich concert as well as some old favorites such as "Spain" and "In the Mood." This is also the last concert for seniors Bob Wolfe (bass trombone), Brandon Stout (trombone), Kelly Gentry (saxophone), and Caitlin Burr (vocalist), who will be featured in the performance.
"The last Relli's performance of the year is always a lot of fun since everybody is hyped - they want to go out on a high note. The band is usually at its best at the end of the year too so I expect we'll make a very good showing. At the same time, it's a bit sad since this will be the last performance with the seniors - they've contributed a great deal to the band and we're sad to see them go" says James Ball, director of the AC Jazz Ensemble.
The Albion College Jazz Ensemble consists of the following members: Trombones: Bob Wolfe ’10, Brandon Stout ’10, Thomas Wiseman ’12, Erin Sovansky ’13. Trumpets: Lauren Stout ’11, Taylor Harding ’12, Josh Sams ’12, and Ethan Brock ’13. Saxophones: Kelly Gentry ’10, Jacob Stoneburner ’11, Kenny Pingel ’11, Nate Love ’13, and Michelle DeVries ’13. Rhythm Section: Dustin Goodnight ’11 (drums), Dan Willenberg ’11 (piano), Dan Palmer ’11 (guitar), James Ball (bass), and Caitlin Burr ’10 (vocals).
