Reported by Jen Sylak, ‘10
The Albion College Jazz Ensemble is thrilled to share their upcoming performance with singer, composer and recording artist Kathy Kosins on Wednesday, April 14, at 7:30 p.m, in Goodrich Chapel. The band will be performing all new pieces including some composed by Kosins.
The Chicago Tribune called Kosins “One of the most alluring voices in Jazz.” She has been singing professionally since the early eighties and has been heard on over two hundred and fifty radio stations and at numerous festivals and performing arts series. The Midwest Record Recap said in one review, "...Kosins has got it going on and you should get on the train.”
“This is such a unique experience for the students,” said music professor James Ball, director and bass player in the Albion Jazz Ensemble, “It is great for them to get the chance to perform with an experienced, professional vocalist and jazz artist.”
Along with Kosins, this concert will honor seniors Bob Wolfe (bass trombone), Brandon Stout (trombone), Kelly Gentry (saxophone), and Caitlin Burr (vocals) who will be making their last on-campus appearance with the Jazz Ensemble. The Jazz Ensemble would like to acknowledge the seniors for their years of hard work and performances for the band.
