Food and Fun to Be Had at Obon Festival
Albion College’s Asian Awareness Group and the Japanese Department will host an Obon Festival on Monday, April 12, from 5- 6:30 p.m. Obon is a traditional Japanese celebration, having been observed in Japan for over 500 years. The festival will take place in the Gerstacker Commons of the Kellogg Center.
The festival features a wide array of food: Aka, a restaurant in Jackson, will cater a variety of sushi, seaweed salad, and nigiri. Green tea and a selection of bubble teas will also be available. There will also be a few games and prizes, as well as calligraphy instruction.
Donations will be accepted at the event for Haiti relief efforts.
This event is open to the public, but reservations are required as seating is limited. Reserved tickets are $3 each. If room is available, tickets will be made available at $4 each. Reservations must be made by e-mailing the number of tickets requested to
