State Farm to Co-Sponsor Albion College Inaugural Young Alumni Awards

Celebrating the bright past and future promise of Albion College, Albion's State Farm Insurance company office has signed on as a gold sponsor of the College's 175th anniversary celebration. As a gold sponsor, State Farm provided the College with $5,000 to co-sponsor the College's inaugural Young Alumni Awards dinner and program to be held April 23.

"State Farm and Mark Putvin have a history of supporting new and innovative programs at Albion College," said Joshua Merchant, vice president for institutional advancement. "It's not surprising they're sponsoring the Young Alumni Awards, because this is something that highlights the quality of Albion and the education we provide."

"This was a great opportunity for State Farm to share in the 175th anniversary celebration of Albion's history of educating our future leaders," said Putvin, State Farm Insurance representative for Albion. "We are happy to support Albion College and the fine work that they're doing."

Albion's new Young Alumni Awards: Top 10 in 10 were created to recognize noteworthy and distinctive achievements made by alumni who have graduated within the past ten years. The awards, says alumni engagement director Mark Baczewski, "highlight the impressive achievements our alumni make, even just a few years out of college. Albion has thousands of successful alumni, and it's great to celebrate a few of them."

Founded in 1835, Albion College is observing its 175th anniversary throughout the 2010 calendar year with special events for students, alumni and friends designed to remember its rich history and celebrate a bright future.
