Faculty and Friends

Williemay Cheek on Jan. 22, 2007 in Jackson. She was employed with the Albion College Library from 1955 to 1974, where she trained students in library skills. She also studied ceramics, attending classes in Maine, North Carolina, and California, and was a volunteer ceramics instructor in the Albion College Department of Art and Art History. Williemay was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the American Association of University Women. Last year she was featured in a film by Dave Klimek and Patricia Ramsey called Aging Gracefully: 90-110. The film was part of a series called Celebration of Life Videos. Her husband, John Cheek, was a professor of religious studies at Albion from 1946 to 1973; he preceded her in death. She is survived by three sons, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
