The Asian Studies Minor

The minor comprises five elective courses, plus a language requirement. Study abroad is strongly encouraged but not required.

a) Asian language requirement

Minors must take the equivalent of one year of an Asian language, with a minimum grade of 2.0. Study beyond the first-year level is strongly encouraged.

Students who wish to take an Asian language not offered at Albion College may satisfy this requirement by taking language classes through off-campus programs or summer language study programs which have been approved for Albion College credit.

b) Electives

Five units, to be taken in at least three different departments. At least three electives must be courses focusing primarily on Asia (see list below).

No more than one course may be taken off-campus, and approval of course credit towards the minor is subject to the approval of the Asian Studies Curriculum Committee.

Albion College courses not listed below may also be counted towards the Asian Studies minor, subject to the approval of the Asian Studies Curriculum Committee.
