Bobbit Visual Arts Center

The faculty of the Department of Art and Art History provides an environment in which students learn how to understand and articulate ideas, emotions and experiences through the medium of art. In studio and art history courses, students become conversant in the visual and verbal languages of art, and begin to understand how artists with established reputations have used those languages to express their ideas. In the Department, students experience two disciplines in an integrated environment that enhances the experience of both the artist and the art historian.

We offer Bachelor of Arts degrees in studio art, art history, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in studio art. Within each major, students have the flexibility to tailor their program to best suit their interests and life goals. We also offer a number of courses that are of interest for the non-major who would like to have experience in the arts. Many of our courses fulfill college requirements and integrate very nicely with other college majors and special programs, including the Honors Program.
