What is Alpha Phi Omega?

Alpha Phi Omega is a national co-educational service fraternity. The fraternity was founded in 1925 at Lafayette College in Pennsylvania by former naval officer, Frank Reed Horton.

The purpose of Alpha Phi Omega is to assemble college students in a national service fraternity in the fellowship of principles derived from the Scout Oath and Law of the Boy Scouts of America; to develop Leadership, to promote Friendship and to provide Service to humanity and to further freedom that is our national, educational and intellectual heritage. We accomplish these goals through our three fundamental principles: leadership, friendship, and service.

Like the purpose says, Alpha Phi Omega brings together college students with a common interest in service. At Albion, the Alpha Gamma Lambda chapter has managed to bring together students from a variety of the many student groups and backgrounds, from social Greek fraternities and sororities, members of Albion’s student government, music students, and more.
