American Anthropological Association: The AAA is the major professional organization for anthropologists.  The site has information on national conferences, careers, anthropology in the news, and recent publications.  http://www.aaanet.org

American Sociological Association: The ASA is the major professional organization for sociologists.  The site has reviews of departments, statements on issues such as immigration, welfare, and affirmative action, and career information.  http://www.asanet.org

Society for Applied Anthropology: The SfAA is the organization supporting applied anthropologists whether they work in academia, public service, or business.  http://www.sfaa.net

Anthropology in the News: Look to this site for news items of interest to anthropologists.  Many of the articles are especially of interest to archaeologists. http://www.tamu.edu/anthropology/news.html

National Association for the Practice of Anthropology: NAPA's site has information about internships (see below) and about practicing anthropology outside of academia.  http://www.policycenter.com/policycenter/napa/generalinfo/about.htm

National Association for the Practice of Anthropology: NAPA maintains a list of internships for anthropology majors (and many of the internships are likely to be of equal interest to sociology majors) at http://www.practicinganthropology.org/employment/?section=mentor_internships

American Museum of Natural History: The American Museum of Natural History is another good place to look for anthropology internships.  http://research.amnh.org/grants/anthrointern.html
