Gifts of Stock Part 3

If you have possession of the stock certificate, you can choose to:

A. Obtain a new certificate in the name of Albion College and deliver it to Albion College by certified mail or in person. This may take several weeks.

-or-

B. Send or deliver the stock certificate to Albion. You must sign the back of the certificate and have your signature GUARANTEED by a commercial bank (not credit union or savings and loan) or by a stock broker. Since this signature makes the certificate negotiable, it is risky to mail it.

If the certificate represents more shares than you want to give, you should send written instructions along with the certificate to Albion College. We will then obtain a new certificate representing the surplus shares to return to you.

-or-

C. For safety, you may prefer to send the certificate UNSIGNED in one envelope, and a stock power (which may be obtained from a bank, broker, or from Albion College) in a separate envelope. The stock power must be signed and your signature GUARANTEED as explained in Paragraph B above.
