Giving to Albion

What is Phonathon?

Phonathon is an annual program at Albion College where students make calls to potential donors. The purpose of Phonathon is to obtain gifts for the Annual Fund, Briton Scholarship Fund, departments, and for campus activities and organizations. Phonathon also raises awareness of the importance of annual alumni giving. Phonathon consists of three calling sessions during the academic school year. We currently employ thirty dedicated student callers and two managers who work all three Phonathons. We call from our Phonathon Headquarters in the basement of the Bonta Admissions Building on campus.

Phonathon is a long-time tradition here at Albion College. The Phonathon has had many homes over the years. Some of the places that served as calling centers are the lower level of Robinson Hall, the lower level of the Stockwell-Mudd Libraries, and Norris Center. Current Albion College students are hired to make the calls so that every donor called has a chance to catch up on what has been going on back at their alma mater. The Office of Alumni/Parent Relations and Annual Giving runs the Phonathon.

When should you expect a call?

Fall Phonathon spans three weeks in October each year. Winter Phonathon usually takes place during the first two weeks of February and Spring Phonathon runs for a week in March or April. Calls are made from 7-9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. If you graduated prior to 1957, you can expect a call during regular business hours Monday through Friday. If you would like to be added to or taken off of our calling list, please email tdubiel@albion.edu. If we are unable to reach you during one of the Phonathons, watch your mail for a pledge card from one of our student callers!
