Reunion Giving Competition

Race for the Shield: Who's in the lead?

The Race for the Shield

Celebrate the significance of Albion College through a gift in honor of your class.

What is the Race for the Shield?

The Race for the Shield offers two opportunities for your class to win. Your class could win the highest total giving category, or the highest giving participation category, or both!

Reunion giving gives you the chance to demonstrate your passion for Albion College all while helping to give current and future students resources to succeed. All gifts from July 1, 2012, through October 11, 2013, are counted towards the Race for the Shield.

Current Reunion Giving LeadersGiving Percentage

Class of 1958: Sue Koepfgen Dempsey
Class of 1963: Jim and Tamara Transue Royle
Class of 1968: Thomas Long
Class of 1973: Jerry Baxter
Class of 1993: Shelley White-Thomas
Class of 1998: Stephen Lathom
Class of 2003: David and Abby Gilbert Fleming
Class of 2008: Catherine Game

What’s in it for the class?

The two classes that lead either in the total giving category or in the giving participation category, will have their class name placed on a plaque for future reunions to see. To honor the Reunion Giving Leaders and those that participated in the class that wins either of these, we will be having a complimentary reception during Homecoming with the President. At the reception, the two winning classes will present the President with large checks indicating the amount the class raised. All Reunion Giving Leaders and committee members will also be invited to celebrate their hard work and support of Albion College.

Who’s currently in the lead?

The class of 1963 is currently in the lead for the highest giving participation. The class of 1968 is currently in the lead for highest total giving. There is still plenty of time to help your class win!

Will this really have a large impact on Albion College?

Yes! Homecomings and reunions are the time when alumni tend to either increase their gift to the College or make a gift to the College for the first time. The reminiscing and excitement that reunions bring re-engages those that may have lost touch with the College. Imagine the possibilities if every reunion alumni gave $10!Total Gifts

What do our gifts go toward?

The Albion College Fund or Briton Scholarship Fund, supported by unrestricted gifts, allows Albion to use the money where the need is greatest -- including (but not limited to): scholarships, campus improvements, faculty support, and academic programs. Your gift to the Albion College Fund helps purchase books for the library, support student research projects, and secure critical pieces of equipment for our classrooms.

It is also possible to designate your gift to a specific department, program, or team. No matter where you designate your gift, it will go towards benefiting Albion College as a whole!

Are gifts to the College tax deductable?

Yes, gifts to Albion College are tax deductible. After you have made your gift you will receive a gift receipt in the mail.

Make a gift today so you can count as a participant for your class!
