Founded in 1835, Albion is a private, co-educational, liberal arts college, related to the United Methodist Church. Albion College was the first private college in Michigan to have a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa.

Q: Which majors are offered?
A:
Albion offers 27 academic majors. Numerous special programs and academic honors institutes are also available.

Q: What are the AP policies?
A:
A score of 4 or 5 on an AP exam automatically earns college credit and may be counted toward advanced placement in that area. Depending on the department, a grade of 3 may result in advanced placement and, at the discretion of the department, may also be granted as college credit.

Q: What are the official costs?
A:
Tuition and fees for 2007-08 are estimated at $27,530, plus $7,806 for room and board, totaling $35,336. Books and supplies range from $700-800 per year.

Q: What scholarships are available?
A:
Academic scholarships range from $11,000 per year to full tuition. Departmental scholarships are also available. For more detailed information, visit our Financial Aid pages.

Q: What percentage of students receive scholarships or financial aid?
A:
95% of Albion students receive merit-based scholarships and/or need-based financial assistance.

Q: How generous are the scholarship and financial aid awards?
A:
For the 2006 entering class, the average gift portion of the total financial aid package (grants and merit-based scholarships) was $13,804. This does not include any loans, external scholarships or other external grants or aid -- just Albion's funds awarded to qualified students.

 Q: What grades and test scores do I need to be accepted?
A:
Because we consider a number of factors, there is not actually a "minimum." The average high school GPA -- grade-point average -- for this year’s incoming class was 3.54, the average ACT score was 25, and the average SAT score was 1200. The most important issue, however, is consistency in academic performance. 

Q: Are master’s or graduate classes offered?
A:
No, Albion is exclusively an undergraduate institution.
