Scholarship Opportunities for High School Seniors Residing in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

Up to Full-Tuition

Upper Peninsula students can earn non-competitive, merit-based scholarships, which are based on high school academic achievement and are awarded at the time a student is admitted to Albion College. To learn more about these scholarships, please visit Albion’s scholarship calculator.

Additionally, in accordance with the wishes of James A. and Verle A. Klungness, ’50, and William H. and Clifford G. Anderson, ’37, Albion offers a number of full-tuition scholarships to incoming students from the Upper Peninsula. As U.P. residents themselves, the Klungness and Anderson families maintained a strong connection to Albion and wish for others to have similar, life-changing experiences. These scholarships are competitive, and require additional credentials, along with the general application for admission.

U.P. Scholarship Application Process - to be completed before December 1 of your senior year.

Notify us.

By email, notify the Office of Admission of intent to compete for the Klungness and Anderson Scholarships. Please email Corey Grazul at .

Apply!

Submit a general application for admission and Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). U.P. Scholarship candidates must be admitted to Albion and have a FAFSA on file.

Essay.

In approximately 500 words, describe how living in the Upper Peninsula has impacted your life. Personal stories, family legacies, cultural ties; we want to know how the U.P. has shaped your identity.

Letter of recommendation.

Consider asking a teacher, coach, pastor, employer, or other community leader who knows you well. We would like to hear about your character, resolve, motivations, idiosyncrasies, and/or abilities in and out of the classroom.

Campus Visit.

A visit to campus is required for scholarship candidacy. We want your decision to attend Albion to be more than simply a financial one. A visit during your junior year, or fall of senior year, will count.

Interview.

In person or through video, we’ll ask you some serious and senseless questions, all to get to know you better. Most who choose Albion do so because it feels right. We want our interview to reflect the spirit of our school.

Students who are selected to receive a U.P. Scholarship can expect notification by January 31 of their senior year. If offered a U.P. Scholarship, students must accept and submit their enrollment deposit by February 28 of their senior year.
