Admission Requirements for International Students

Welcome to the Albion College international admission Web site.

 

In reviewing your application for admission, Albion requires the following for all international students:

1.) An Albion College International Student Application or Common Application.

  • An application fee of US $40 is required for all international student applications, including the Common Application. Your application will not be processed until the fee has been received. Please use our online payment form to make your payment. You may also send a certified bank check, or money order (no postal money orders accepted), in US dollars, payable to Albion College. Please designate your check as "International Student Admission Application Fee." Mail your payment to:

2.) Personal Statement/Essay (one page minimum). Included as part of the Albion College International Student Application.

3.) Original or certified copies of all academic records, secondary school transcripts, and college/university transcripts, translated into English and listing individual courses including types, number, and grades received. A minimum of at least three years will be required for students applying from a four year secondary institution and a minimum of two years for students applying from three year secondary institutions. In some cases, transfer students from colleges/universities outside the United States seeking admission to Albion College will require an external evaluation by WES and ECE for transfer of college credits. Collegiate credits can be transferred at any time after the semester ends but will be evaluated on a course by course basis by the Albion College Registrar.

4.) One of the following English Language Proficiency Requirements

  • TOEFL Scores – IbT (79 or above) or PbT (550 or above)
  • IELTS – Academic band score of 6.5 or higher
  • ELS – Completion of ELS Language Center course of 112
  • CEEB/TOEFL School Code: 1007

ACT and SAT Testing – Albion College will accept an ACT composite score of 21 or above or an SAT score of 970 or above in lieu of a TOEFL score, IELTS score or ELS course 112 competition. The SAT score is a combined score of the Critical Reading and Math portions of the exam. The Critical Reading portion by itself should be no less than 450). You should request that ACT and SAT scores be sent directly to Albion College. In some cases, Albion College will allow certified copies stamped by a school counselor or administrator.

Official scores of TOEFL, IELTS, ACT, SAT or ELS course 112 completion sent directly to Albion College from educational testing services. Albion College will also allow certified copies stamped by a school counselor or administrator. In most cases, only one of the above mentioned tests (that meets the minimum requirements for admission) is necessary.

5.) Two letters of reference from your school guidance counselor or headmaster, your English teacher (or teacher of your choice for English speaking nations) or a community member from a club or service organization you are involved in. These are included in the Albion College International Student Applications. Letters on official school letterhead may be substituted in lieu of the official form.

6.) Albion College Statement of Financial Support for International Students with supporting documents, i.e.bank statements, income/salary statements of parents from their employers or a sponsorship letter. The Collegeboard International Student Financial Aid Application may be used in lieu of the Albion College Statement of Financial Support. Supporting documents, i.e. bank statements, income/salary statements of parents from their employers or a sponsorship letter will still need to be submited.
