THE PHONE SYSTEM

Telephones are provided in the student room or annex.  Students are responsible for the use and condition of the telephone equipment in their residence.

Your Telephone Number - Your room telephone number is on your phone.  If you are unable to find your number, check with your residence hall director.

Receiving Calls - The College has Direct Inward Dialing (DID).  This means that anyone calling from off campus can dial directly to your room without going through the switchboard operator.  Albion is in the 517 area code.

If the last four numbers of your room telephone number begins with a 0 or 1, your Albion telephone number is 517-629-XXXX where XXXX is your room telephone number.

If the last four numbers of your room telephone number begins with a 2, your Albion telephone number is 517-630-XXXX where XXXX is your room telephone number.

Example:  Room phone is 1941 - People from off campus would dial 1-517-629-1941

Room phone is 2145 - People from off campus would dial 1-517-630-2145

Making Calls - On campus calls can be made by dialing only the last four digits of the telephone number.  These last four digits will be your on campus extension.

Local calls may be made by dialing 9 then the number.

Long distance calls may be made using your Personal Identification Number (PIN).  For new students, the PIN number will be in your Kellogg Center box when you arrive on campus.  Continuing students will use the same PIN issued when they entered.

When using your PIN  you must dial *9, your PIN, 9, 1, area code, Phone number you are calling.

All calls for information about obtaining a PIN, using your PIN or questions about your phone bill should be directed to the Phone Clerk in the Accounting Office at ext. 0218.

Your PIN should be kept confidential as all calls made using your PIN will be billed to your phone account.

If your PIN is lost or stolen, please report that immediately to the Phone Clerk in the Accounting Office or call ext. 0218.

If you have forgotten your PIN, please report in person to the Accounting Office and see the Phone Clerk.

If you discover calls on your phone bill that you have not made, let the Phone Clerk know within 30 days of receiving the bill or you will be held responsible for the calls.

Telephone Bills - The telephone billing system is a separate billing than the student tuition account and is entirely online.  The College offers 3 calling plans.  Please visit britphone.albion.edu to view and sign up for the calling plans.

An email will be sent to the student notifying him/her that their monthly phone bill is available to be viewed and paid.  The student will be directed to a link britphone.albion.edu where they must log in to view the account summary and call detail.  A one year history of call detail will be maintained.

The following outlines the procedure for payment of the telephone bill:

1.  Due 10 days from the date of billing.

2.  30 days past due (total of 40 days from initial billing) :  The PIN will be disabled and all amounts due will be transferred to the Student Tuition Account for collection by the Accounting Office.  The PIN will not be reinstated without permission of the Accounting Manager and a $ 10.00 reactivation fee.

NOTE - The PIN will automatically be disabled when total unpaid charges exceed $ 300.00.
