Phone System Information
Telephones are provided in the student room or annex. Students are responsible for the use and condition of the telephone equipment in their residence.
Your Telephone Number
Your room telephone number is on your phone. If you are unable to find your number, check with your residence hall director.
Receiving Calls
The College has Direct Inward Dialing (DID). This means that anyone calling from off campus can dial directly to your room without going through the switchboard operator. Albion is in the 517 area code.
If the last four numbers of your room telephone number begins with a 0 or 1, your Albion telephone number is 517-629-XXXX where XXXX is your room telephone number.
If the last four numbers of your room telephone number begins with a 2, your Albion telephone number is 517-630-XXXX where XXXX is your room telephone number.

Making Calls
On campus calls can be made by dialing only the last four digits of the telephone number. These last four digits will be your on campus extension.
Local calls may be made by dialing 9 then the number.
Voice Mail
Each student telephone line is assigned two voice mailboxes with confidential passwords.
You will receive information from the Office of Residential Life describing how to set up and use your voice mailbox.
For help in using the voice mail system, contact your residence hall director, the voice mail help line at ext. 0230 or visit the Facilities Operations Web site.
To have your voice mail password changed or reset, call the Office of Residential Life at ext 0224.
Telephone Repairs
Telephones needing repair should be reported to a residence hall desk, residence hall director or the Office of Residential Life who will notify the Facilities Operations Office.
Information needed for a repair request includes student name, residence hall and room number, the telephone number of the phone not working and the nature of the trouble.
Phone Equipment Restrictions
The residents of a room or annex will be charged for any damage occurring to t telephone instrument or its wiring in their room or facility.
Phone Relocation - Relocation of a permanently mounted telephone instrument is not allowed. Residents will be charged a $15.00 service charge to reinstall a phone if it is moved from its original location. Residents also will be charged for any parts or wiring damaged as a result of improper use of the telephone instrument.
Extension Phones - Extension phones, wireless phones, or telephone answering machines may be used if your room is provided with a College-installed modular phone jack. The unauthorized addition of extension phones or other equipment to a permanently mounted wall phone may cause extensive damage to the telephone electronic switching center. The addition of equipment to the phone system is traceable, and will result in a $25.00 fine. The residents will be held responsible for the cost of repairs caused by any of the above actions.
Improper Telephone Practices - Improper telephone calls are defined as unauthorized or incorrectly billed calls placed from any campus phone, including acceptance of incoming collect calls. Any student participating in improper telephone calls will pay the costs of those calls plus a $50.00 fine. In addition, violation of the established telephone policy may result in disciplinary action.
