My name is Darren E. Mason and I am an associate professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Albion College, as well as an adjunct associate professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science and the Department of Statistics and Probability at Michigan State University. Consequently, I teach a variety of courses during the calendar year, ranging from functions to multivariable calculus, differential equations, mathematical modeling to engineering dynamics and continuum mechanics. To learn more about what I currently teach, check out my daily schedule.
In between teaching, I also try to stay active in research. My general area of interest is applied mathematics and its relationship to materials science and engineering mechanics. Current work includes invariance theory in thermomechanics and plastic damage in metallic materials. For more information, check out the research section of this website.
To learn more about what I do in my time off ("time off"?? what is that??), feel free to investigate the small section about boring old me.
