ACIS is an acronym for Albion College Information System. Faculty use this site to post grades while students use it for course registration and checking grades. Students can view financial aid and account information using ACIS.


Albion 1Card

The Albion 1Card is the official identification card of Albion College. Issued to all members of the College Community, it is required for identification and access to essential campus services. It also offers a convenient declining balance debit account - Briton Bucks - for making purchases on and around campus.

Banner
Administrative software for Student, Financial Aid, Finance, Human Resources and Development data.

New faculty members receive their Banner and ACIS login credentials from the Registrar at their orientation meeting. Staff receive them by request from their supervisor. Training for Banner can be scheduled by contacting the Help Desk.

Door Access

To request door access for students or employees, please email . Please keep in mind that these requests sometimes take up to a week to complete. Only Vice-Presidents or Department Heads may authorize staff members to have access to areas with key card locks. File Storage Space

Albion College provides file storage space to all faculty, staff, and students that is backed up nightly. Network drive space falls into two categories: Enterprise class storage which is backed up nightly and Commodity class storage which is not backed up. Microsoft Office

Office 2010 for Windows and Office 2011 for Mac are available for all faculty and staff office machines. They are also available to students at no additional cost through our Microsoft Campus Agreement. Faculty and staff can download the current version of Microsoft Office under our work-at-home licensing agreement. Symantec Anti-Virus

Symantec is the anti-virus software we use for campus machines. It is available for student personal computers through our license agreement, but not for faculty and staff personally-owned computers.

Authorizations Procedure

Provision of card key access to students and staff is an interdepartmental function, requiring the efforts of Campus Safety, Helpdesk, and Facilities Operations. In an effort to minimize the confusion inherent in this arrangement, the email address has been created. This address is monitored by all 3 departments, and issues sent there will be addressed by the appropriate department.

Helpdesk – Issuance and encoding of Albion College ID cards

Facilities Operations – Maintenance of hardware and software of locking system, oversight of access control.

Campus Safety – Emergency card issuance and access control

STUDENT PROCEDURE:

The following procedure is to be utilized by faculty and staff for authorizing students to have card key access to buildings and rooms after hours:

  1. Faculty/staff member e-mails request to authorizing student access. A signed copy of the request must also be sent to Campus Safety.

  2. The authorization must include: name and student number for each student, room/office numbers into which student has access, and duration of authorization. Unless otherwise specified, authorization will expire at the end of the current semester.

  3. Facilities staff will complete the necessary data entries for each authorization, normally within five business days. Due to the volume of requests, this may take longer at the beginning of the semester.

  4. The requesting faculty or staff member will be sent an e-mail confirmation when the work has been completed.

***Students are not authorized to have access to the exterior of academic buildings under any circumstances, and are asked to arrange for such access through Campus Safety

FACULTY / STAFF PROCEDURE:

Only Vice-Presidents or Department Heads may authorize staff members to have access to areas with key card locks. An e-mail detailing the name of the staff member needing access and the buildings and room numbers for which the particular staff member is to have access should be sent to . The request will then be handled as above.
