My career as a research scientist actually started four years ago at Albion when I was awarded a Foundation for Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and Creativity Activity (FURSCA) grant to study parasite manipulation. Since then I've worked with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on industrial chemical regulation and the U.S. Department of Energy on climate change science. And in those same years, I read poetry about the war in Iraq and explored "Americanism" through Aaron Copeland's music. My biology classes at Albion taught me how to be a good scientist, but my liberal arts education has made me a relentless thinker.
