Graduation Requirements

  1. A minimum of 32.00 units, no more than 16 units in any one department.
  2. Successful completion of at least one academic major, a maximum of two majors.
  3. A minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.00.
  4. All core requirements must be completed. Core requirements are based on the students catalog of entry.
  5. The Writing Competence Exam must be passed.Information concerning this exam and the dates offered during the semester can be obtained from the English Department Office or the Office of the Registrar.
  6. The Residence Requirement must be met: the last 12.00 units of credit for graduation must be completed in residence at Albion College. Students who have earned 6.00 units at Albion prior to the beginning of their senior year may elect up to 2.00 of the last 12.00 units out of residency. Residence is defined as academic work completed on campus, in combined course programs, or through off-campus study approved by the Off-Campus Programs Advisory Committee. Exceptions to the residence requirement are made through the petition form on the forms page. For more information, contact the Registrar's Office.
  7. Students must submit an Application for Degree to the Office of the Registrar prior to the semester of graduation.
  8. Restrictions on the 32.00 unit graduation requirement:
    • A maximum of 1.00 unit of physical education activity courses (.25 unit courses) can be used toward graduation.
    • A maximum of 4.00 units of internship credit can be applied towards graduation. This is inclusive of off-campus internships, field placements, and apprenticeships.
    • A maximum of 2.00 units of music ensemble (instrument or voice) may be applied toward units required for graduation.
    • A maximum of 1.00 unit per semester may be taken on a Credit/No Credit basis. This does not include off-campus program credit or transfer credit. The catalog of entry must be consulted to determine individual department requirements concerning Credit/No Credit in the major area.
  9. For students seeking a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.)
    • A minimum of 34 units of which 16-21 units must be in Arts.
    • All other graduation requirements must be met.
    • For entry into B.F.A. program, students must apply with the Art department.
