Why I chose Ford: I joined the Ford Institute to utilize and improve my leadership skills, to become more knowledgeable about and engaged in political matters, and to better understand and serve my community. Since joining Ford, I have become living proof that the Ford Institute is not just for those who wish to be lawyers and policy-makers. The Institute is for anyone who wants to make a difference in his or her community, school, or workplace. Before I joined Ford, I hoped that it would teach me to be a more engaged citizen, a better communicator, and a more effective leader. The Ford Institute has done that and much more for me.
Internship plans: I hope to do an internship that involves healthcare policy.
Post-graduation plans: I hope to attend medical school and become involved in the creation of either healthcare or education policy later on in my life.
Favorite movie about my future professions: Even though it is not a movie, I enjoy the television show The Big Bang Theory since it involves scientists.
Current issue/topic that is important to me: Although I am very interested in healthcare policy because it affects so many people and will play a major role in my future career, I have come to be very passionate about education policy as well. I place a very high value on education and feel that in order to improve the lives of Americans and move our nation in a positive direction, we must ensure that everyone receives a proper education.
