The Distinguished Artist Program is an opportunity for you to show us your talent in the arts and earn additional scholarship money to attend Albion College. With your participation, you will be eligible to receive additional scholarship assistance; more than $250,000 was awarded to participants last year. One participant will receive a full tuition scholarship to attend Albion College!
To be eligible to participate in this scholarship program, you must be accepted to Albion College for entry as a first-year student in the fall of 2015. If you haven't applied to Albion yet, do so by December 22, 2014 for timely consideration.
You may choose to participate in one of these areas:
Integrated Arts (film, visual poetry, and more)
You will be asked to perform or present your portfolio for 15 minutes and then a panel of faculty will discuss your presentation with you for another 15 minutes.
This opportunity helps you understand our hands-on, interdisciplinary approach to the liberal arts and sciences. We hope you will begin to understand the value of this type of education as a result of your participation.
The process of selecting your method of participation, preparing for the competition and then participating helps you experience the teaching and learning environment at Albion. You will also receive valuable feedback and encouragement from your panel of faculty.
The most effective way for us to identify promising artists and scholars is through in-person participation and dialog. This is your opportunity to show our faculty more about your future potential than may be apparent in your admission application and essay.
What if I don't want to compete?
Interview/Audition/Portfolio Day is an alternative opportunity for you to display your talents in the fine arts (music, theater, visual art) and/or schedule interviews with the Gerstacker Institute, Ford Institute, Environmental Center, and Honors Program.
Your admission counselor can help you decide which opportunity is right for you. In addition, we have a student mentor and some faculty mentors available to talk with you.

You know all about the life-changing opportunities an Albion education offers. Why not share them with a prospective student?
Consider your family (including immediate family members), neighbors, friends, children of co-workers, members of your religious community, civic groups, and others. Recommend a student through our form below, and you'll ensure that the student will receive Albion admission materials.
But it doesn't have to end with the referral. We ask that you actively recruit your student, offer support throughout the search process, recommend campus visits, and encourage his or her application to Albion. By helping the College, you also make Albion more affordable for the student. If he or she is admitted and chooses Albion, the student will receive a $1,000 scholarship in your name—$4,000 over four years—with no financial commitment necessary from you.
To begin the process, please complete the form below. And please note there are many more ways to get involved. If you have any questions about this or other alumni/parent admission volunteer opportunities, please call the Admission Office at 800/858-6770.
There’s nothing quite as gratifying as a high school student—whom you have come to know—choosing to attend Albion College.
By that measure, Albion’s new Admission Ambassadors Program has been very gratifying indeed.
Alumni, parents, faculty, and staff embraced the new Admission Ambassadors Program by referring more than 500 high school seniors to the College this year. The program — with its cornerstone of a $1,000 Referral Scholarship for each of four years — helped generate interest in the College among students who may not have considered Albion otherwise. Combined with other new Admission efforts, deposits are up almost 20 percent over 2014.
The results: 531 senior referrals, 355 referred student applications, and 128 referred student deposits as of May 15, 2015.
Thank you to all who took a leap of faith with this program — who sent referral forms and newspaper clippings on high-achieving students; who kept in touch with their referred students and even brought them to campus; who worked college fairs and spring receptions; and who made phone calls and sent e-mails. Your efforts made a huge difference!
Now is the perfect time to refer next year’s high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors, and encourage them to attend the June 22 or July 24 Albion 101 program on campus or to schedule a personal visit and tour this summer. We welcome your referrals starting today!
Please note: You must refer seniors before they complete their admission application, as it is an incentive to apply. Submit referrals online, or contact the Admission Office at 800/858-6770 to have referral forms sent by mail. Albion will begin accepting applications for the fall 2016 entering class September 1.
