I am pleased to inform you that University College Cork has been selected as Ireland’s University of the Year by The Sunday Times. The award, for the third time, follows on the heels of UCC becoming the only Irish university to achieve the unique status of Ireland’s first five star university and improving its position in the QS World University Rankings.  For further information please see

Subjects: Full curriculum university. UCC is renowned for Irish Studies, history, music, literature, marine science, folklore, Celtic studies, food science and technology, engineering, and medicine.

Prerequisites: 3.0 GPA, junior-level standing, demonstrated maturity.

Length: Fall or Spring semesters, Academic year, limited summer. Students attending UCC for the fall semester spend September taking an Early Start Semester in one of the following areas: archaeology, history and modern Ireland, literatures in Ireland, Irish ecosystems. They then join the regular Autumn term that begins in October.

Credit: Students may earn up to four Albion units per semester, depending on the coursework selected. A normal semester load at UCC is six classes (30 UCC credits). A full load of 30 UCC credits = 4 Albion units.

Housing: Apartment style complexes; almost all rooms are single with kitchen & bath facilities shared with other occupants of apartment.

Costs not covered by Albion:: Travel to and from Cork; vacation travel; miscellaneous personal expenses, meals.
