Subjects: Academic and intensive language programs that include a wide variety of cultural programs.

Prerequisites: junior-level standing

Length: Semester, Academic Year, and Summer

Dates: The Fall Semester runs the first week in September until the second week in December, and the Spring (Winter) Semester runs the first week in January until the second week in April.

Credit: 10-credit Japanese language course and one 3 or 4 credit elective course

Housing: Japanese homestays (upon request) or residential halls with Japanese students and faculty

Cost: Albion College tuition and fees cover program tuition and fees, orientation, room, and most meals.

Costs not covered by Albion: Round trip airfare. The program fee does not include personal expenses, additional meals, books and supplies, local transportation.

Comments: Intensive Japanese language is taught at four different levels, from beginning to advanced. No prior Japanese language study is necessary. Programs in English Language, Hospitality Business and Tourism (June – August), Environmental Sciences (June – August), and Comparative Health Care (May – August) are offered. JCMU students are able to experience many aspects of Japanese culture and life through programs: Elementary school visits, oral presentations, community interviews, cultural presentations, and community internships.
