Life: Career
Development
To gain information about themselves in relation to the world of work, students are encouraged to analyze their personal interests and abilities so that both short-term and long-range plans can be formulated and pursued. Exploring alternatives, making choices and implementing action plans are essential components of the career development process. To facilitate this process, the Career Development staff provides individual guidance on a variety of career-related issues.
The career library serves as an excellent resource for information about various career choices and specific career fields. Employer research and contact information is maintained in the library, as are graduate and professional school materials. The Career Development Office's World Wide Web site lists specific job and internship opportunities as well as general information about the job search. Links to professional organizations and job listing services can also be found on the Web site.
Programs and services are continually provided to assist students throughout their college education in attaining their professional goals. This type of support covers topics such as gaining entry into advanced study programs, job search preparation, and securing internships and full-time employment.
The Office of Career Development works closely with other College resources, including faculty, to disseminate information and promote activities that facilitate the career development process.
