College Poetry Fest Posted Monday, March 22, 2004 Reported by Heather Horobik, '06 ALBION, Mich. – Local poetry lovers are invited to celebrate National Poetry Month by participating in the fifth annual Albion College Poetry Fest, to be held Thursday, April 1 at 3 p.m. in the Wendell B. Will Room of Albion College’s Stockwell Library. As Poetry Fest is being held on April 1, “Fools for Poetry” is this year’s chosen theme. Both readers and listeners are invited to join in the festivities. Audience members are encouraged to read their favorite short poems, whether of their own work or the work of other poets. The event promises to be an enjoyable experience with a wide selection of poetic readings, a variety of wonderful refreshments, and a prize drawing with a poetic twist. “Poetry Fest is an informal celebration of National Poetry Month open to all who wish to participate by reading or listening,” says Marion Meilander, organizer of the event. “In the past, participants have always been a good mix of students, faculty/staff, and community people.” Poetry Fest is free and the public is encouraged to attend and participate.
