Posted Monday, April 19, 2004
A beautiful spring day gathered horse lovers and
well-wishers last Saturday, April 17, for a celebration of Albion
College's soon-to-be-constructed Nancy G. Held Equestrian Center.
The center, which will be constructed just south of the College's main
quadrangle, is slated to welcome its first equine residents with the
opening of the 2004-05 academic year this August.

Members of the Equestrian Center committee gathered to celebrate the
opening of the Nancy Held Equestrian Center, slated for August 2004. From left: Albion College

Construction and the first year of operation of the equestrian facility
were made possible by a $750,000 donation from Albion
philanthropist Nancy Held, professor emerita of education and the former
director of the College’s teacher education program. An additional $250,000 gift from
Jean and Sheldon Laughlin of Parma,
Mich., will help the Held Equestrian Center achieve its goal to become
the
premier equestrian facility for a liberal arts college in the Midwest.
