Colvin in Concert At Albion College GRAMMY WINNER INAUGURATES APALS 2000-01 SEASON Posted Monday, September 11, 2000 ALBION,
Mich. –
One of the hottest recording artists working today, two-time Grammy award winner
Shawn Colvin brings her unique sound to southern
Michigan with a concert Saturday, Sept. 30, at 8
p.m. in Albion College’s Goodrich Chapel.
Colvin’s appearance kicks of the Albion
Performing Artist and Lecture Series (APALS)
2000-01 season.
Fueled by the smash hit Sunny
Came Home from her album A Few Small
Repairs, Colvin has established herself as a
prominent contemporary singer/songwriter.
Her work earned her two Grammy Awards in
1997 and a recurring spot in the smash
all-female music festival Lilith Fair, along
with The Indigo Girls, Sheryl Crow and event
organizer Sarah McLachlan.
According to Rolling
Stone magazine, Colvin’s “graceful
melodies, reflective lyrics, and achingly pure
soprano [have] led some … to compare the
singer/songwriter to her idol, Joni Mitchell.” Colvin has six solo recordings to her credit, and has been
featured on 26 others.
Admission to any and all
APALS events is free to APALS subscribers;
current faculty, staff and students of Albion
College; and retired administrators and faculty
emeriti of Albion College. Faculty and staff receive one guest admittance with their
college I.D.
Students, faculty and staff must present
