College Habitat for Humanity Model for
Michigan Schools ADRIAN, SIENA HEIGHTS GROUPS COME TO LEARN ALBION'S SUCCESS Posted Wednesday, September 26, 2001 ALBION, Mich. –“Albion College is one of very few college in the country totally supported by college and student-raised funding,” says Albion College Habitat for Humanity Adviser, Erin Elder. That distinction is the reason representatives from two other Michigan schools will spend this weekend in Albion, participating the College’s “Habitat Weekend Excursion,” which is open to the public. Friday, Sept. 28, the “Excursion” will begin at 7 p.m. in the College’s Bobbitt Auditorium with a presentation by Anna Beningo, executive director of the Michigan Habitat for Humanity. Beningo will present a report on Habitat’s current role in Honduras, which she has just visited, and will discuss Habitat’s future in Michigan.
Representatives
from Adrian College and Siena Heights College
will spend the weekend with Albion College’s
Habitat for Humanity group, studying the
group’s success as a student organization.
They will also assist with work ongoing
at the group’s current Habitat project in
Albion. The
presentation is free and open to the public, and
the public is also encouraged to work at the
Albion Habitat house.
