Rick Holland’s Little Big Band Coming to Albion
Thursday,  March 23, 2006

Reported by Mark Babb

ALBION, Mich. — The big band jazz sound fills the air of downtown Albion when the Albion College Music Department presents Rick Holland’s Little Big Band in concert on Thursday, March 30, at 9 p.m. at Cascarelli’s Restaurant.

This ten-piece ensemble performs nationwide, playing contemporary-mainstream jazz from writers such as Bill Dobbins, Brent Wallarab, and Kenny Strayer. The Little Big Band puts their unique stamp on classics of the 1930s and 1940s big band era, and ventures out in new and creative ways to showcase modern pieces that will appeal to all audiences.

Last year, the Little Big Band released its first CD on Blujazz Productions label. Mark Babb, Albion College Music department manager said, “The Little Big Band brings a sound unique to jazz and we are excited to bring that sound to the Albion College community.”

This concert is free and the public is invited to attend.  For more information, contact the Albion College Music department, 517-629-0481.
