Friends of Albion College Library Announce Annual Book Sale
Monday, March 13, 2006

Reported by Jake Weber

ALBION, Mich. – Surplus books from the College’s collection, along with other special items, will find new homes this month as Albion College Friends of the Library host their annual Book Sale. A silent auction runs from noon to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22, and an “Early Bird” sale runs from 7 to 9 p.m. The general book sale is open from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 23, and 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, March 24, in the College Stockwell-Mudd Libraries.

“This year’s silent auction includes a high percentage of books that were not previously library books, noted library director John Kondelik. “We are auctioning a signed first edition of Stephen King’s The Stand, a complete set of the works of Freud, a complete set of Encyclopedia Judaica, plus a lot of important books on the Holocaust and 20th-century German history,” Kondelik explained. “There are a lot of very fine books in the sale.”

The silent auction and Early Bird sale are free to Friends of the Library; a $10 charge will apply to non-members and book dealers wishing to attend. The general book sale is free and open to the public. On Friday, March 24, books will be sold for $1/bag until noon, and are free for the taking from noon-1 p.m.

A list of silent auction books is online. For more information, please contact Cheryl Blackwell at the Stockwell-Mudd libraries at 517-629-0447 or cblackwell@albion.edu.
