Albion College Celebrates Lessons and Carols
Monday, November 21, 2005

Reported by Ruthie Spalding, ’09

ALBION, Mich. — The Albion College Concert Choir fills Goodrich Chapel with holiday music Sunday, December 4, at 7 p.m., with their annual Lessons and Carols Concert.

The Festival of Lessons and Carols traces high points in Biblical history, from Genesis through the New Testament. Carols are interspersed with the readings, and include choir pieces and audience singing. Albion College’s Lessons and Carols service dates back to 1966, and is borrowed from the one performed since 1918 at King’s College Chapel in Cambridge, England.

“The concert has such a wide variety of music; I’m sure that anyone who comes to hear holiday music would be pleased, if not surprised to hear things outside the regular carols you hear every year,” said Ruth Spalding, Ann Arbor first-year student and member of the Concert Choir.

This concert is free and the public is invited to attend. For more information contact the Albion College Music department, 517-629-0481.
